There is a story you've already told yourself about today...
but are you the Protagonist or the Antagonist?
Hello Again,
It warms my heart to be here with you this afternoon because we are this much closer to unpacking our truths in order to unlock are truest potential and if you are already doing the work, then this is simply a reminder that you are on the right path.
Today, I simply hope to remind you of who you are. How you ask? By encouraging you to consider what is the story you’ve told yourself about today and how does it show up in real time in your real life. For example, we may subconsciously tell ourselves, today is going to be a horrible day for a number of reasons, all before we step outside of our doors in the world for which we have no control. In fact, the only thing that we can control is our own minds and we may have already made up in our minds— that any outside factors affecting us, will indeed ruin the day. Why do we do this? I can tell you all about self-sabotage for it is something I know well, but I often wonder how cognizant of the act I truly was. Was I really trying to ruin my own life or did I feel I had very little control of it? What was the story I told myself about who I was and more specifically where did this idea come from?
These are the things I am unpacking in the New Episode of Sober in The Morning, also available on Spotify, Google Podcasts+more.
If only for a moment, you take sometime for yourself, only for yourself, I encourage you to do some mirror work.
Mirror Exercise: stand still and tall while gazing into your reflection. Remove yourself from any outside distractions, any and all sounds (if possible). In full gaze, take a scan of your face, from your forehead to your chin and all the features in between. Ask yourself: Who am I? There is no right or wrong answer for this activity, I simply encourage you to take a mental scan of the thoughts that come into your mind after you’ve asked yourself the question out loud. Finally, consider where the perception of yourself stems from.
I thank you for reading along with me today, for activating another form of yourself in order to push yourself. I encourage you to listen to the latest episode of my podcast where I take a deep dive into identity with a story time about the 3 years of my life where I was PASSING as White and Latina (before you judge, please listen). Check out the latest episode here Sober in The Morning .
As always, pack light and journey on.
xoxo,
Zewiditu Jewel
